We have recruited 9 trainee teachers for 2017/18 on the School Direct Programme in conjuction with Leeds Trinity University.
All this years trainee teachers have secured jobs for Sept 2017.
A debating event was held at the Civic Hall where children from each school demonstrated their debating skills in front of a large audience.
These materials have been produced in order to provide a framework for the planning, teaching and assessment of speaking and listening skills.
The framework was provided as a part of the Trust's focus on Communication and Language during 2015-2016 and is the outcome of a working group comprising English subject leaders from all four schools.
In November Teachers from all schools met for a Kagan training day to learn simple fun structures to be used as part of every lesson to support pupil engagement, co-operation, learning behaviours and spoken language.
Teacher feedback of the course was overwhelmingly positive with the vast majority of staff finding the day very useful. Typical comments were "Excellent content, good variety of strategies" and "I gained lots of new ideas to bring to my classroom".
Our schools have chosen four key Kagan approaches to embed within our lessons. There is already good evidence of the impact of these strategies on pupil independence and co-operation.
The work also ties in closely with our key objective for this year i.e. Improving communication through spoken language development.
We will be welcoming six trainee staff teachers from Leeds Trinity University in September 2015.
